I haven’t gotten spiritual or astrological in a hot minute, but I figured this would be a fun time to discuss the commonly practiced ritual of New Years Resolutions. The most popular resolution to make, I’ve noticed, is something health related, whether that’s being more active or being more mindful of what one consumes.

It’s great to have a goal for the year, or many goals. But here’s why January might not be the best time, especially this January as we’re in the midst of a Venus Retrograde with Mercury about to retrograde (not a great time to make any hardened plans or sign any contracts).
Most of us work on keeping things consistent to meet that goal in the beginning, but burn out by February. My theory is because we’re going from a stern Capricorn energy – all about buckling down and getting shit done – to a dreamy Piscean energy, which can sometimes lead us astray from our actual goals. Between the two is Aquarius, which is all about innovation and rebellion (like rebelling from those goals).
My reasoning behind starting your goals in March goes back to that Pisces sun placement. End of February and beginning March, is a great time to reflect on what it is you want and dream big but beginning Aries season (proudly, my sun sign) is the best time to take that dream and make it a reality. Aries is ruled by the planet Mars which is all about taking action, putting your feet to pavement or pen to paper. It’s the perfect time to bust some butt in order to reach your goals. The energy then moves to Taurus, ruled by Venus, the planet of passion. With that passion and determination, you’re more likely to keep at it.
Now there’s the whole debacle of Mercury going retrograde 4 times this year, twice in Capricorn, but we’ll save that for another post.
Whether you believe in astrology or not, it’s at least something to think about. I personally won’t be making any serious resolutions this year. My aim is to have fun and find peace within myself. Do you have any goals for 2022? How do you feel about resolutions overall?
