Another fine and terrifying Monday is upon us. Well, technically it’s almost over but you’re picking up what I’m putting down. It’s Monday, who loves Mondays? Garfield surely doesn’t and who would argue with a tabby cat who has a caffeine and lasagna addiction? Not I.
On this deliciously dark day, I managed to post the first ever short story available in the Sprite tier on my BMAC! I went all dystopic (if that’s not a word, it should be) with this one. I won’t give away much but here’s a teensy little taste:
In a crumbling world where bartering is illegal, Amira must race against time to make it home before she’s caught by law enforcement. What happens when she is caught… with an entire backpack full of illegally traded goods? Become a member to find out. It’s $3 a month and you get between 1-4 short stories each month.
This story blends a couple of my favorite genres: dystopia and dark fantasy. I enjoyed fleshing this world out so much so that I might have to explore it (and our MC Amira) a little more some other time.
[As for a little personal update: there’s not much to say. I’m hyperfocused on a few IRL goals. My foster mom isn’t doing great. I tried calling her today but she only managed about two minutes of conversation before my brother had to take over. I’d greatly appreciate any and all good thoughts with that. Any good vibes you could spare, we will take them. Between all of that, writing, and being a present mom, I haven’t had time for much else. Yet somehow, life still isn’t boring. Who’d have thunk? Until next time – with a potentially more personal or bookish update!]
